The main objective of
Life Remembrance project, coordinated by
MEDICA SpA – Water Division in collaboration with
ISOF-CNR of Bologna (National Research Council), principal investigator Dr.
Manuela Melucci, is the production and marketing of a new generation of safe and innovative filters for water purification, obtained from the reworking of scraps resulting from the production of hollow fiber membranes.
In this context, Life Remembrance project is in accordance with the principles of the circular economy: the scraps, which are real industrial processing waste, are not considered waste but a new resource that can be exploited for the creation of innovative and specific products for drinking water purification industrial.
Life Remembrance represents an example of an industrial research project aimed at environmental sustainability; in fact, in addition to the recovery of high-value industrial waste, other eco-sustainable objectives are:
- the reduction of emerging and persistent chemical contaminants presents in water (such as PFAS, pesticides, antibiotics, disinfection by-products, heavy metals)
- the saving energy and emissions related to waste disposal
- the production of safer drinking water while simultaneously reducing the use of plastic bottles for human consumption.
